As part of Arts Week, Year 6 have used their knowledge of the Maya as a stimulus for their art work.

We have designed and made traditional Maya headdresses and experienced what it is like to take part in a Maya festival, ‘The Day of the Dead’ which still exists today in modern Mexico. To celebrate the Maya festival, we created dances using traditional drums and rainsticks.

To showcase in the art exhibition, we have decorated cactus pots, with traditional Maya decorations. They will be available to buy on Friday 5th February for £2. If parents cannot make it, children are allowed to bring in their money to purchase their own pot.

We hope to see you there! Here is a snapshot of what we will be exhibiting on Friday.

At the end of the week we put our pots on display so that parents, carers and other children in school could see how artistic we are.
