As part of our theme ‘Fun to be Fit’, we decided to investigate lung capacity in Science. As a class, we predicted that the taller someone was, the bigger their lung capacity would be. We got into groups, measured our heights and then went outside to conduct our investigation. It involved water so we thought it might get messy!
We used a full water bottle to represent our lung. Each person took one breath and blew into a straw which was inserted into the neck of the bottle. This pushed air into the bottle and water out, meaning the the amount of water pushed out represented our lung capacity.
Can any children from Year 6 share what we found?
