With half of Year 6 out on transition to secondary schools this week, for those that were left we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and headed out to the forest.
We learned how to use the loppers to cut sticks and potato peelers to whittle the sticks. We also learned the ‘Mickey Mouse Ears’ knot and combined these skills together to make photo frames. The children used the tools very safely and worked together to help each other.
Following this, we used our newly taught skills to get creative…some of the products included grappling hooks and even a heat generator!
