As part of out creative curriculum theme, ‘Unlocking the Universe’ Year 6 ventured into the final frontier – space.
We visited The Great North Museum Planetarium and were in awe of their show, “The Dawn of the Space Race”.
We learned all about the first pioneers of space travel: Yuri Gagarin (the first human in space); Alexi Leonov (the first space walker); Neil Armstrong and Dave Scott (the first to dock a manned space flight) and Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin (the first men to set foot on The Moon).
We zoomed through the Solar System and felt like we were astronauts ourselves!
When we got back to school we used our knowledge to write a first hand account of the events.
We all felt ‘starstruck’ after our busy day!
