Year 6 enjoyed almost a full day of Maths today! In the morning (after some writing), we learnt about enlargement and scale factors and investigated by drawing shapes (including our initials) and then enlarging them by different scale factors. Some of us even progressed to fractional scale factors where the ‘enlargement’ actually ended up smaller than the original shape!
In the afternoon, we investigated ratio following the instructions given on squash (both normal and double concentrate) to calculate the amount of concentrate and water needed to make enough juice for our group. Of course we had to check our calculations were correct and make up the juice as we had calculated! Some of us progressed to the challenge of calculating how much concentrate and water would be needed to make enough juice for the whole year group and even the whole school!!
