Today the children in Year 6, who had completed their 25m swimming award were invited to take part in the RNLI’s waters safety workshop – Hit the Surf.
The session started off with a talk all about keeping safe on the beach and in the water, and we learned about the role of a lifeguard and the RNLI.
Then we got into our very tight wet suits and played some games to warm up on the beach.
We then had a go at surfing in the sea – some people were so good they even stood up!
Finally we got to become lifeguards and learned how to rescue someone in danger, but most importantly we learned how to keep ourselves safe in the water.
It was a fantastic afternoon!
