Today, Year 5 visited the Woodhorn Museum in Ashington.
Once we arrived we split into two groups. One group explored the mine shafts and looked a how the miners accessed the mines. We also looked in the Winding House at how the winding engine worked.
The other group started looking at the Pitman Painters. We looked at the photos and discussed which ones were our favourite and why. After that, we chose a painting to copy using graphite.
After lunch, we had some free time to use the amazing play area. Then we visited the museums – which was full of lots of interesting facts and artefacts.
Take a look at our pictures from the day.
