Today, 9 children from Year 5 attended the Thomas Hepburn cluster basketball competition. The children looked the real-deal in their Fell Dyke basketball jerseys.

We got there nice and early and had a good warm up, practicing on the full size hoops. After that, we were welcomed by the SSP tea.

We were the first match on against Colegate. Straight from tip-off PL scored our first basket to settle any nerves. Half-way through the second half, they equalised. The MOTM PL scored the winner in thw dying seconds. 2-1 Fell Dyke.

Without any time to rest, we were straight back on against Carr Hill (b), who were the eventual winners. Their star player wearing the Number 8 shirt, made some fantastic passes and scored some amazing baskets to help his side to a well-earned victory. 3-1 Carr Hill (b).

After a short break, we faced Carr Hill (a). Again we played very well, lots of excellent passes and dribbling. Unfortunately, the taller and slightly older children from Carr Hill (a) meant they were able to beat us in certain areas and this handed them a well deserved victory.

Finally, we played Windy Nook. Our FD team definitely displayed our FD values of determination and excellence. Unfortunately the children from Windy Nook were able to shoot and score some fantastic baskets and we suffered our biggest defeat of the day. Nevertheless, KA scored a hard-earned basket for FD.

I am extremely proud of all of the children who represented FD. It was lovely to see the children work together and be humble in victory as well as gracious in defeat.
