Purple Class Climb Everest!
Well... sort of.
Purple class have been learning about Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary becoming the first two people to climb Mount Everest as they prepare to write a biography about the pair.
As part of this, we wanted the children to experience some of the physical challenges (without flying to the Himalayas...).
To achieve this, they practiced breathing through straws, loading and carrying a (very heavy) backpack and trekking up and down the very steep hill leading to the field, before combing all three together in a final challenge. The children did very well, though it's fair to say some found it trickier than others!
